Pop punk was the first style of music that I fell in love with. Blink 182, Sum 41 and New Found Glory were the first bands that I started listening to shaped my taste of music and got me interested in playing guitar.
In 6th grade I didn’t have many friends and felt kind of like a outcast. There was one day in particular where I had a bad day. I recall being picked on in school a lot that day and my friends were there to comfort me and bring me joy. Since I didn’t have any of my friends on my bus, my school rides home always consisted of turning on my CD player, putting on my headphones and playing one of my CDs that I bought with my allowance money.
On my really bad days I would play the New Found Glory album, Sticks and Stones. This album had arguably the band’s biggest single, My Friends Over You. Every time I listened to this song, it made me feel like my friends were with me even though they weren’t physically there. To this day, every time I listen to this song or even this album, it takes me back to those school rides in middle school where I would blast this song on repeat and get looks from everyone on the bus because they could here my music through my headphones. Every time I think about this song, I think about those days back in middle school.

Really interesting story. I know I had a very similar past myself. I knew of a few Blink 182 songs, but I was mostly into EDM and practically no one listened to that. I usually don’t talk to people anyways so I would always have music in while on the bus, or when I had to walk home.
